Two Stroke Diesel Engine

A two-stroke diesel engine uses compression ignition to convert fuel into motion through two piston strokes per crankshaft revolution:
  1. 1. Compression
The piston moves up, compressing the air-fuel mixture in the combustion chamber.
  2. 2. Power

The fuel ignites, and the piston moves down, expelling exhaust and powering the engine.

Here are some other things to know about two-stroke diesel engines:

    • Invention

Hugo Güldner invented the two-stroke diesel engine in 1899.

  • Power-to-weight ratio

Two-stroke engines often have a higher power-to-weight ratio than four-stroke engines because they have a power stroke twice as often.

  • Moving parts

Two-stroke engines have fewer moving parts, which makes them easier to maintain and cheaper to manufacture.

  • Use
Two-stroke engines are popular in mopeds and motorcycles in regions with less stringent emissions regulations. They are also used in power tools like chainsaws and leaf blowers.
