Four Season Apparatus (Manual)

A four season apparatus, also known as a season’s apparatus or four globe apparatus, is a model that shows the Earth’s cyclical changes in weather and climate throughout the year. The model works by representing the Earth’s tilt and its orbit around the sun, which cause the amount and angle of sunlight reaching different parts of the globe to vary. This variation in sunlight causes the seasons: spring, summer, fall, and winter.

The model typically includes:

  • Earth globe: A globe or spherical object that represents the Earth
  • Sun light source: A light source that represents the sun
  • Revolving cross: A cross that the Earth globe revolves around
  • Gears: A precisely cut gears assembly that allows for smooth revolution
  • Bakelite disc: A round Bakelite disc that shows the 12 months, 4 seasons, and their cardinal points
  • Metal plate: A metal plate that shows the 12 months, 4 seasons, and their cardinal points
  • Electric bulb: An electric bulb that represents the center position of the sun
A four season apparatus can be a great learning tool for children, helping them to understand the principles of working and to develop a scientific attitude.
